I am currently Senior Lecturer (tenured associate professor) in International Relations at King's College London
. I previously taught at the Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics. I received my Ph.D. in political science at the University of California, Berkeley in December 2010.

My book, Development after Statism: Industrial Firms and the Political Economy of South Asia, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2017.  I am currently at work on a book manuscript, tentatively titled Colonial Legacies and Political Orders, which examines the causes of the uneven state in South Asia and its consequences in development, violence and representation. My broader research interests include comparative industrialization, state capacity, state formation and political order, all in relation to the Indian subcontinent.
